I joined the Navy at 19 because I didn't like the prospects of doing what everyone else did. Although I don't necessarily believe that joining the Navy was doing anything different, I just had to get out and away from that mindset. Now at 26, I'm in the 9-5 game, where I didn't want to be, and digging out. Good luck to you, and good luck to the both of us! Deanna, I’ve felt exactly that way from the get-go! Right before my eyes. I also have an adult daughter starting her own family, so I can look back on her life as well, and want differently for my other children. OH, and my mom just retired and I see her having worked her entire life, and now she's tired. She retired, so that she could rest. And then what? Die? What a life. Work, rest/recover from a life of work, and then die. I certainly don't want that! For me or for my children. I have always been the forward looker/planner in our family and I have us on a path for success right now, but I have come to the realization (through my wife and now echoed by Deanna) that the time required to execute my present plan is too long. Life will be almost complete by the time I can enjoy it on my terms. I'm participating in the activities you've laid out thus far on 7m7y.com.
