Ryan’s First Post

The world is filled with get out of debt advice, get rich quick schemes, and a constant stream of “sound financial tips” that constantly grace the covers of magazines or given in 30 second sound bytes on the news, but listening to this advice is DEFINITELY NOT the way to true wealth.

If you wanted to become a master carpenter, a gold medal winning olympian, or a famous chef, you wouldn’t just read some books about it or watch a how to video. You would find a mentor, a coach, someone who has been to the promised land and returned to show you the way.

That is the reason I applied to be one of the 7 millionaires in training at 7m7y.com, and why I am so incredibly thrilled to now be one of those 7 individuals who will be getting direction from a multi-millionaire. Not advice from a financial advisor who is paid to lead me towards the investments that pay him/her the most, but someone who will be paid nothing and will not just give me fish to eat (i.e.- buy this stock) but teach me how to fish ( i.e. here’s how I started a business).

This isn’t to say that Dave Ramsey or Suzy Orman can’t help you to get out of debt. Following similar advice has helped me to be debt free. And setting goals like Brian Tracy and Zig Ziglar suggest has absolutely helped me accomplish many financial and personal goals.

Nothing you read, however, can substitute for a coach or mentor. That is why I am so excited for this journey to begin, and sincerely hope that you will follow along and join in the discussion to share your own situation and experiences with the 7m7y community to make this a truly educational environment for all.

Ryan,
Great comments and I totally agree. I also appreciate you reminding me that I need to put some tags on my future posts. I checked everyone of yours out.

@ Lee – yep, tags are a great idea; I noticed that Ryan is the Master of tags 🙂

Great first post Ryan, I liked the olympic athlete/chef example.

Very well said Ryan, I think you encapsulated everything this journey is about!
